Andy Murray's Scottish Hotel Business Makes a Profit After Two Years of Losses
Sir Andy Murray's hotel business has turned a corner, with new figures revealing a profit of almost £200,000 last year. The tennis star, known for his Wimbledon triumphs, purchased the 16-room Cromlix House Hotel near his hometown of Dunblane for nearly £2 million in 2013. Since then, it has become a five-star establishment, winning multiple hospitality industry awards.
The hotel was managed by a firm until December 2022 when Murray and his wife, Kim, took a more hands-on approach. The newly published accounts show a significant turnaround, with a profit of £193,379 compared to a loss of £369,044 the previous year. The business, employing 88 people, increased its cash reserves and reduced liabilities, demonstrating Murray's commitment to its financial stability.
Cromlix has become a hub for Murray family gatherings, including the tennis star's wedding reception in April 2015. The hotel's Glasshouse restaurant was awarded a Michelin Key, and the establishment is currently undergoing a major revamp, adding two new restaurants, a wellness facility, and three new suites, including an accessible ground-floor suite. Despite the closure, the team is still taking bookings for the spring and beyond, inviting guests to be part of the hotel's exciting transformation journey.
