Some features, like the two bank vault doors now housing a speakeasy bar, were originally functional but have been reimagined for aesthetic appeal. The hotel's name, Waymark, pays homage to its role as a directional sign for hikers, targeting outdoor enthusiasts who flock to Chattanooga for its mountain and waterway adventures. The interior design, featuring earth-tone accents and outdoor-themed artwork, reflects this focus on nature. However, the Waymark Hotel also caters to urbanites with its historic and architectural details, reminiscent of Manhattan or other major American cities. The building's rich history, dating back to 1927 as the Chattanooga Savings Bank, adds to its allure. Over the years, it has housed various businesses, including a Coca-Cola bottling magnate's office and a portrait artist's penthouse. The Waymark Hotel's amenities include an expanded lobby, comfortable seating, a central check-in area, a grab-and-go food station, and multiple meeting spaces. The rooftop Iris Bar, designed by HK Architects, offers a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and downtown Chattanooga, providing a perfect blend of old and new.
