Verstappen's remarkable streak of form, which saw him reduce the championship lead of Oscar Piastri by 64 points, seemed to stall after Norris' win in Mexico. The Brazilian race has been a challenging experience for Red Bull, with Verstappen struggling to find grip and control in his car.
During the qualifying session, Verstappen complained about a lack of grip, and despite Red Bull's efforts to improve the situation, the changes made the car even more uncompetitive. This led to Verstappen being knocked out of qualifying after the first session, a rare occurrence since the 2021 Russian Grand Prix, which was due to engine problems.
Verstappen and his team are perplexed by the car's performance, with Verstappen stating, 'We need to understand what our problems are first of all. It's not been good. It seems that we don't really understand why it's going that way.'
Red Bull attempted to regain their competitive edge by changing the floor of their car, reverting to an older specification. However, Verstappen noted that the issue persisted, indicating that the problem lies elsewhere.
