Tottenham Hotspur showcased a much more dynamic and energetic performance on Sunday, but despite their efforts, Thomas Frank's team managed to secure only a single goal, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Sunderland.

In the latest comments from Thomas Frank, he reflected on the disappointing tie that saw Spurs drop yet another two points at home, where they have only achieved victory twice in their last ten matches this season. Alarmingly, Spurs have won just two out of their last eleven encounters in the Premier League and are currently positioned 12th on the league table.
After the match, Thomas Frank shared his thoughts on the game: "I thought the first half was quite encouraging. There were numerous phases during the match where we looked strong — we really controlled the game, applied aggressive pressure, and created several promising opportunities that should have yielded more results. The second half wasn't as impactful, but we still generated eight or nine good chances when we had numerical advantages like 5v5 or 4v4; we really needed to capitalize on those moments. One critical missed opportunity was our failure to score a second goal, which could have effectively sealed the match for us. We pushed hard, but then a bit of quality play from them led to the equalizer at 1-1."
Regarding the crucial actions that fell short: "We found ourselves in excellent attacking positions, which was something we specifically aimed to enhance. However, it often comes down to either the sharpness of the players on that day or their decision-making and overall quality — and we just didn't have that today. It's always a combination of factors."
On how his team coped with Sunderland's tactical adjustments in the second half, he remarked: "Honestly, I didn't find it particularly challenging. We allowed very few opportunities for them. They managed to score a well-executed goal, and that's the reality of football. The most significant takeaway for me was our inability to score that vital second goal."
"Football thrives on momentum, and every match has its ebb and flow. There were moments when Sunderland may have seized a slight advantage, but it wasn't overwhelming. The main issue was our inability to maintain sustained pressure, both in possession and defensively. We really need to ensure we finish games off with a second goal."
"We must continue to focus on our development, keep honing our skills. I hope the players will become sharper and exhibit more quality moving forward. It’s also about being decisive when it matters most. Players must take charge in those key moments — that’s essential."
When asked about the mixed reaction from fans, who cheered during the match but booed at the final whistle, he said: "I think it's important to concentrate on the positives. The fans were incredibly supportive throughout the game, which is something we truly appreciate and need. From this performance, there are definitely more positives to take away. Naturally, we are focused on results, and we desperately want to win; however, we simply couldn’t secure that essential second goal."
