The world of compact caravans is about to get even more exciting! Barefoot Caravans is pushing the boundaries of small-space living with its newest creation, the Bothy. But this time, they're going ultra-compact, leaving some enthusiasts divided.
The caravan industry has been buzzing with fiberglass trailers, like the Escape 13 and Awaken RV's MorningStar. But Barefoot Caravans is taking a different approach, shrinking its already petite Barefoot travel trailer even further. The result? The Bothy, a pint-sized wonder that sacrifices size for increased maneuverability.
Here's the catch: the Bothy is even smaller than its predecessor, but it lacks a bathroom! This might be a deal-breaker for some, but the designers have made clever use of the limited space. Instead of a wet bathroom, the Bothy features a convertible sofa bed and a nearby Porta-Potty. The interior is well-equipped with storage solutions, ensuring your essentials are always within reach.
The trailer's galley is a compact yet functional space, featuring a gas cooktop, sink, and storage. The U-shaped dinette at the front remains unchanged, providing a cozy dining and sleeping area. And this is where it gets interesting: the Bothy's exterior is crafted from a single piece of molded fiberglass, making it lightweight and easy to tow behind any vehicle, including electric ones. With rounded corners and a narrow design, it's a breeze to navigate through tight spaces.
Weighing just 1,556 kgs (maxing out at 1,874 kgs), the Bothy is a lightweight adventurer's dream. It comes equipped with 16L freshwater and 23L wastewater tanks, and its power needs are met by a 110Ah battery and a 120W solar panel. All this comes at a starting price of £25,500 ($35,000).
But here's the question that sparks debate: is sacrificing a bathroom worth the increased maneuverability and compactness? Would you choose the Bothy for your next adventure, or do you prefer a more spacious caravan with all the amenities? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
